Trunk-Bounce-Drag

Musth male dragging distal portion of trunk on the ground making a rasping sound; often leaves a snake-like mark on the ground. This display in African elephants may have its origins in the Trunk-Bounce seen in Asian elephants. Musth males may drag their trunks as a threat at very close range. (91) Other elephants also drag their trunks though not apparently as a display.
