Sudden streaming of secretion from the temporal glands during socially exciting interactions. Many socially stimulating interactions between family members are associated with the sudden onset of Temporin that may stream down the side of the face within seconds of the onset of the interaction. In these cases the onset of Temporin often appears to be associated with vocalizing. This type of temporal gland secretion usually dries up within approximately 10-15 minutes. Temporin may also be secreted when elephants are alone, separated from their families or when they are disturbed (69)
