ElephantVoices Sound Library

A comprehensive and continuously growing collection of elephant vocalizations is the core part of the SEVP/ElephantVoices project, and the scientific basis for understanding the meanings of the calls used by african savanna elephants. More than 6,600 records, collected mainly in Amboseli National Park in Kenya over two decades, are stored in the ElephantVoices Database. This comprehensive database contains audio files, behavioral field notes, demographic data, spectrograms and structural measurements. These data represent a work in progress, for which input and analysis will , depending on funding, continue through 2007.

This page will be an entrance to the ElephantVoices Sound Library which includes three elements:

The elephant calls available online will be compressed versions. Original recordings may be made available for scientific use if approved by SEVP/ElephantVoices. Sale of original recordings for commercial use supports the project and elephant conservation – get in touch!
