Elephant antics

Elephants can behave in very silly ways - sometimes we find ourselves laughing aloud. Joyce met this male (named Stoney by PAWS' Pat Derby and Ed Stewart) on Olare Orok Conservancy just north of the Maasai Mara National Reserve in January 2011. Stoney was hanging around with a group of 24 elephants. Joyce was trying to get ID photographs of all the adults when he started his silly antics. This is a great example of an elephant inviting for play - in this case with Joyce! We just love this ridiculous side of elephants. He has a really easy to identify "outstanding notch" in his left ear. We would love to hear from anyone who may have seen him before. He is m0073 in our upcoming Elephant Partners (http://facebook.com/elephantpartners) database. Read more about elephants in play in this document: http://tinyurl.com/4euorop
