We work where ever we find ourselves. We study African elephants in Kenya and Asian elephants in Sri Lanka, and we offer advice to elephant research and conservation projects and welfare initiatives where ever they may be. Between field-trips we are either in Sandefjord, Norway, where we have our home office, or we are traveling - meeting our colleagues, lecturing, advocating for elephants or fund-raising.

While there are only a couple of sorry circus elephants in Norway (soon to be reduced to none if we're successful), it is a very convenient place to work. We live within 12 minutes of a small international airport (TRF) and we have fibre-optic internet connection in our home office. Our colleagues live all over the world - in India, Sri Lanka, the United States, Europe, Australia, South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and the United Kingdom - so we depend on e-mail, Skype, phones and FaceBook to communicate with people.

The different time zones mean that the days spent in our home office start early and often end very late. But, we live in a beautiful area surrounded by the sea and enormous glacier-sculpted rocky outcrops. Our clever family member and border-collie, Malita, demands and deserves a lot of attention and at least a couple of good walks and other activities each day.
